Dr. Farrell's Approach

Dr. William Farrell believes that the best healthcare decisions begin with understanding. Throughout his career, he has been driven by curiosity about how the human body works and by a desire to help others make sense of complex health concerns.

His approach extends beyond identifying the source of symptoms. He takes the time to explain what may be contributing to a problem, how different factors may interact, and what patients can do to actively participate in their recovery. His goal is to translate the complexity of clinical health issues into clarity, enabling patients to make informed decisions and move forward with greater confidence and independence.

Dr. Farrell has a particular interest in complex musculoskeletal, neurological, concussion, whiplash, vestibular, and persistent pain presentations. He enjoys working with patients whose conditions require careful assessment, individualized rehabilitation, collaboration with other healthcare providers, and a clear explanation of the clinical reasoning behind their care.

Conditions commonly assessed and managed in his practice include:

  • Persistent neck and lower back pain

  • Headaches

  • Dizziness and vertigo

  • Vestibular dysfunction

  • Concussion-related symptoms

  • Whiplash-associated disorders

  • Temporomandibular joint disorders

  • Complex musculoskeletal and neurological presentations

Education is central to Dr. Farrell’s approach. He believes that informed patients are better equipped to understand their options, participate in their recovery, and develop the confidence and skills needed to manage their health more independently.

Training and Professional Leadership

Dr. Farrell earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta before completing his chiropractic degree at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Following graduation, he pursued extensive postgraduate training in neurological rehabilitation through the Carrick Institute and earned his Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board designation. He subsequently completed advanced certification in vestibular rehabilitation, developing a focused clinical interest in dizziness, vertigo, concussion management, and vestibular disorders.

Dr. Farrell later earned the designation of Diplomate of the International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and was awarded Fellowship status with the Canadian College of Chiropractic Orthopedic Specialists. He has also completed acupuncture training through Acupuncture Canada.

Beyond patient care, Dr. Farrell remains actively involved in professional education and mentorship. He serves as a Senior Examiner with the American Chiropractic Neurology Board, where he contributes to examination development and certification standards. He also serves on the Board of the Canadian College of Chiropractic Orthopedic Specialists.

His passion for health education began early in his career. Dr. Farrell taught anatomy in university wet laboratories in Sydney and has continued to mentor students, clinicians, and healthcare professionals throughout his professional life. Whether educating a patient, mentoring a clinician, or collaborating with another practitioner, he enjoys simplifying difficult concepts and helping others develop practical understanding.

Dr. Farrell previously served two consecutive terms as President of the Macquarie University Chiropractic Students Association and was later elected to the Sydney College of Chiropractic Board of Governors. Dr. Farrell has represented Alberta Chiropractors on provincial panels related to imaging guidelines for lower back pain and Netcare development.

Outside the Clinic

Outside practice, Dr. Farrell enjoys snowboarding, riding his OneWheel, and maintaining an active yoga practice. His interest in movement extends beyond rehabilitation to lifelong health, performance, and resilience.

He enjoys helping patients identify practical ways to move with greater confidence and incorporate sustainable activity into their lives at every stage of recovery.
